Adam Meyer brings up special milestone in semi final!

Adam “Ads” Meyer is one of Rugby’s good guys. Ads arrived at Viking Park over 20 years ago as one of the clubs physiotherapists. He was an outstanding and popular physio but after 12 months of strapping and treating players, decided it would be more fun to actually play. In 2003 Ads had an outstanding season and played the house down as a fit, fast and hard working backrower in 2nd Grades Grand Final Victory 21-10 victory over Gungahlin.

Over subsequent years Ads combined several seasons in the lower grades in and around work commitments and travel (in the APS) and involvement with his sons in Vikings Juniors.

In our 50th year after a sabbatical of several seasons Ads has returned to add 9 games to his total of 90 and has been the same old Ads, fit, fast, winning lineouts, making tackles and running support lines, old father time hasn’t missed a beat.

Vikings 4th Grade coach Brendan ‘Trendy’ Allardyce reflects; “Ads is just a great bloke, I coached him in a premiership team over 20 years ago and now here we both are in 4th Grade all these years later. He is the sort of person you want to play alongside and want to coach, he is super competitive, consistent and reliable, its taken him a while, but he should be really proud to now be a centurion with 100 games for the Redmen, he’s one of my all-time favourites”
