Premier Division Colts

No match report provided.

The Colts kicked off proceedings at Jamison Oval with a big win over Wests Rugby Club. The highlight of the match was young gun Jonty Godfrey scoring a hat-trick of tries, which included a freakish put down in the corner after some excellent stepping. The Colts continue their great start to the season. They will face an undefeated Uni-Norths team this Saturday. Vikings 45 – 22 Wests.

Premier Division 2nd Grade

On a rare sunny day at Jamison Oval, the Dirty Twos found some scoring mojo to take down a spiritied Wests side. The Vikings started out promisingly, posting the first try within 3 minutes of kick off. From this point, the match went tit for tat on the try scoring sheet, with Wests heading into oranges with the lead. After some stern words from Coach Rata and head nodding from Coach Lix, the boys entered the second half with a fire in the belly, crossing the try line 6 times after the break to put the match away. Lock Nick Wald claimed 3 of those himself, ensuring he gets the longest showers this week in the shared Rugby House. Josh Southwell-Nobbs, who dotted down for his first Vikings try last week, continued his trend with another on Saturday, as well as selflessly offloading twice to share the love. His transfer from Braidwood to Tuggeranong appears to be working out quite well. A late injection of youthfulness from the benching Colts sparked the Vikings onslaught, as 2nd Grade head into our Round 3 home game undefeated. Vikings 53 – 22 Wests.

Premier Division 1st Grade

1st Grade made their way to Jamison Oval to take on another round one winner in Wests. Unfortunately, it was a tough day at the office for the Redmen, who were unable to overcome a determined rival in a hard fought game. Wests took an early lead through a couple of penalty goals in the opening 20 minutes, before crossing the try line to take a handy 13 nil lead. Andrew Robinson shifted the balance, slicing through the Wests defence to score a run away try for debutant JD Lealiifano to add the extras. But Wests managed to grab another try to make it 18-7 heading into half time. Man mountain Cameron Holt got through a ton of work in the forwards, leading the charge for the Vikings as they battled to stay in the game. The lead grew to 25-7 very early in the second half, before inspirational Captain Seamus Smith was able to crash over for two tries to bring the Redmen back into the contest with less than 20 minutes to go. With two men in the bin in the final 10 minutes, the Vikings were unable to prevent the Lions from grabbing a penalty try after some sustained try line pressure. One last attacking play put Nigel Ah Wong over for a score, ensuring the Vikings came away with 2 bonus points from the contest. The Vikings will now regather before they take on an undefeated Uni-North’s side on Saturday. Vikings 26 – 32 Wests.
