Vikings Rugby hosted Fijian Day on Saturday 28 May at Viking Park. The fundraising to help with the cyclone relief started weeks before the day as players sold raffle tickets to win a trip to Fiji. This initiative saw some great prizes given away to our winners, find them here.
The Fiji Australia Association of Canberra helped with the planning of the day and sold Fijian style food at a stall at Viking Park during the games. The food they supplied was key to adding that Fijian atmosphere to the event. Vikings 1st Grade took the field in specially designed jerseys with a Fijian pattern. Following the game the jumpers were auctioned off in the Sports Bar.
After such a great event Vikings Rugby is proud to announce $8,500 was raised to support the Fijian Cyclone Appeal. This week the Fiji Australia Association of Canberra and Vikings Rugby presented UNICEF Australia with $4,000. The remaining will be used to directly supply villages in Fiji with the required resources to rebuild their villages.
