Vikings Rugby Indigenous Round

Vikings Rugby Indigenous Round

This Saturday the 1st of June Vikings Rugby will be celebrating National Reconciliation Week with an Indigenous Round, to recognise and share in the history of all indigenous people, past and present, that have been involved with our Club and our Community. The theme for this year’s National Reconciliation Week is ‘Grounded in Truth – Walk Together with Courage’, which asks Australian’s from all backgrounds to contribute to a unified future.

To celebrate the proud history and culture of our Indigenous people, proud Ngambri and Ngunnawal man, Paul House will be conducting a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, as well as a Digeridoo playing.

Vikings Rugby players and fans are encouraged to wear their Indigenous Training Top (pictured below) at Viking Park this Saturday. The specially designed training top can be purchased at Viking Park over at the Red Army or on our online merchandise store by clicking here.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
