Anthony ‘Tony’ Leach to Ride in the Tour de Cure

Congratulations to one of Vikings Rugby’s own, Anthony ‘Tony’ Leach, who has been selected to ride on the Tour de Cure’s Signature Tour in 2019 with Channel 7’s host Beretts! The Signature Tour is a 1,287km ride that starts in Sydney and finishes in Geelong.

Tony was diagnosed with Stage 3b Melanoma towards the end of 2016, but hasn’t given up his passion for riding. Tony is also a regular at Vikings Rugby home games, having played 121 games for the Club himself. Tony has close friends and relatives who are also battling cancer, so he wants to ride on the tour on their behalf to help raise funds for cancer research.

To raise funds for the ride, Tony will be conducting a raffle during the screening of the inspiring film, ‘The Bikes of Wrath’, a film that follows 5 unprepared Aussies as they honour the travels of the Joad Family in John Steinback’s classic novel ‘The Grapes of Wrath’. Details on the screening below:

Date: Monday, February 25th 2019 6:30pm

Where: Event Cinema Manuka (6 Franklin St, Manuka, ACT 2603)
