15 Aug A Message from the President, Brendan Allardyce
Dear Vikings Rugby Family
The 2018 rugby season has flown by since those sweltering trainings in February and the amazing pre-season tour to Singapore in March.
This weekend our season concludes with the culmination of Grand Final day and ALL six (6) senior grades have qualified. Having every grade into their respective Grand Final is an outstanding achievement and to my recollection, this has only happened a couple of times before in our 45 year history. I also note us securing both the Premier and First Division Club Championships and four Minor Premierships.
Yes, we are against the rest on Saturday, the tall poppies and resource-rich club that makes us the envy of all our rivals, but rest assured, it is the inclusive culture, desire to work hard to improve and camaraderie that actually sets us apart that we should be most proud of.
On behalf of the committee (and all of our sponsors, partners, old boys, juniors, supporters and the broader Vikings family), I thank the following:
Our full-time staff; Scriv, Boz and Bowdo have all displayed an unquenchable thirst for hard work, professionalism and dedication to the cause.
Our support staff; the coaches, managers, medical, S&C and volunteers have all undertaken a mountain of quality work and to whom we are all indebted.
Our players; who have displayed commitment and ability above the ordinary and responded to the many challenges of the season with enthusiasm and Vikings pride.
All of our families; who have sacrificed whilst we pour time and effort into our first-class rugby program.
I won’t wish teams luck for Saturday as I know every team will roll up their sleeves, leave nothing in the tank and play with enormous Vikings pride, thus creating their own luck.
Focus on the good stuff and enjoy Saturday, I shall see you all in Valhalla afterwards.
Brendan ‘Trendy’ Allardyce
